Bussmann LPN-RK Series Class RK1 Time-Delay Fuse, Blade End

The Bussmann LPN-RK Series Class RK1 Time-Delay Fuse delivers current-limiting overcurrent protection for motor, transformer, and industrial power distribution circuits, available in ratings from 70A to 600A to match a wide range of branch-circuit and equipment protection needs. Each fuse in the series is rated 250VAC/250VDC and features dual-element time-delay construction with blade end x blade end connections for secure installation in compatible fuse holders. The Class RK1 current-limiting design delivers up to 300 kAIC interrupt rating at 250VAC (100 kAIC at 250VDC), reducing let-through energy and protecting downstream equipment during fault conditions. UL Listed construction supports code-compliant installation across the full amperage lineup.

Bussmann LPN-RK-200SP – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will a Bussmann LPN-RK fuse work on a 480V system?
No. The LPN-RK Series is rated 250VAC/250VDC, so it can only be applied on systems at or below 250 volts. For a 480V circuit you need the 600V Class RK1 equivalent, the Bussmann LPS-RK Series, which is the same dual-element time-delay design at 600Vac.
2) Do the LPN-RK fuses from 70A up have blade ends or ferrule ends?
Every rating in the 70A to 600A group uses blade end x blade end terminals, which bolt or clip into Class R blade-type holders and switch jaws. Ferrule ends only appear on the smaller amp ratings of the family (through 60A), so if your holder has cylindrical ferrule clips these will not seat.
3) Can I drop an LPN-RK into a Class H or Class K fuse block?
Class RK1 fuses carry the Class R rejection groove, so they fit standard Class H/K blade blocks of the same amp range but will also seat in rejection-type Class R holders. The reverse is not true: a Class H fuse cannot be installed in a Class R rejection holder. Upgrading an old Class H panel to LPN-RK raises the interrupting rating to 300 kAIC at 250Vac.
4) Will a time-delay fuse this size hold through motor inrush without blowing?
That is what the dual-element construction is for. One element handles overloads with a deliberate time delay so locked-rotor and starting inrush pass without nuisance opening, while the second element clears short circuits fast. It is the standard choice for motor branch circuits and starters rather than a fast-acting fuse.
5) What interrupting rating do I need to document for my panel, and does this meet it?
The LPN-RK Series is rated up to 300 kAIC at 250Vac and 100 kAIC at 250Vdc, which covers available fault current on essentially any 240V service you will meet in a commercial building. Being a current-limiting Class RK1 fuse, it also cuts let-through energy, which is how it supports series ratings and equipment protection downstream.
6) Is there a blown-fuse indicator on the LPN-RK?
No, these are non-indicating. You will need a meter or a fuse tester to confirm an open element rather than reading a pop-out pin or window. The end caps are electrically isolated, which reduces shock exposure when handling and pulling fuses.
7) Which amp ratings are available in the LPN-RK blade end fuses?
Twelve ratings in the blade end group: 70, 100, 125, 175, 200, 225, 300, 350, 400, 450, 500 and 600 amps. Part numbers follow the rating, for example LPN-RK-200SP at 200A and LPN-RK-600SPI at 600A.
8) Are these fuses acceptable for a code inspection on a commercial distribution panel?
The LPN-RK Series is UL Listed and built to NEC requirements, with RoHS compliant materials. As a current-limiting time-delay fuse it also supports selective coordination with upstream and downstream devices, which is what inspectors look for on service and distribution equipment.
9) Can I use the LPN-RK on a DC circuit?
Yes, it is rated 250Vdc as well as 250Vac, with a 100 kAIC interrupting rating on DC. Keep the applied DC voltage at or below 250 volts.
