Cahaba CAFC33DBWIREGRID – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Which Cahaba sink does the CAFC33DBWIREGRID grid set fit?
The CAFC33DBWIREGRID set is built for the Cahaba 33 inch 50/50 double bowl farmhouse fireclay kitchen sink, models CAFC33DB and CAFC33DBUSS. Two grids come in the set, one per bowl, since the bowls on a 50/50 sink are equal size. It is sized to those bowls specifically, so it is not a general-purpose grid for other 33 inch sinks.
2) Will this sink grid work around a 3-1/2 inch basket strainer drain?
Yes. The grid is cut to accommodate a 3-1/2 inch drain opening, which is the standard kitchen sink strainer size, so a basket strainer or disposal flange in that size sits clear of the grid.
3) Will a stainless grid scratch or chip a fireclay sink bottom?
The grids include rubber feet covers, which is what keeps the 304 stainless steel frame off the fireclay glaze. Those feet are the part that matters on a fireclay bowl, so check them periodically and keep them seated.
4) Is this grid stainless steel or chrome plated?
The frame is 304 grade stainless steel, listed in a polished chrome finish in the silver color family. 304 is the common corrosion-resistant grade used around water and food, so it holds up to daily dishwashing and standing water.
5) Is this grid heavy enough to stay put, or will it shift when I set a pot down?
Each grid weighs about 1 lb, so it is a light wire rack rather than a heavy-gauge bar grid. It sits on rubber feet inside the bowl and lifts out easily for cleaning, but it is not weighted down, so expect it to move if you drag a pan across it.
