Camden CI-3502 Industrial Key Switch with Emergency STOP Mushroom Pushbutton

A mortise cylinder is included with the CI-3502: 1-1/8 inch, solid brass with a chrome finish, keyed different, and two keys in the box. Because it takes a standard 1-1/8 inch mortise cylinder, a locksmith can swap in a cylinder from your own keyway if you want the switch keyed into an existing master system instead of running it as a standalone key.

Three contacts total. The key switch side carries two SPST normally open contacts, so you can drive two independent circuits, one gate operator and one auxiliary relay for example, from the same key throw. The red mushroom emergency stop button has its own single SPST normally closed contact, which is the correct arrangement for breaking a stop circuit. All contacts are rated 6 A at 125 VAC.

The CI-3502 enclosure is NEMA 1 surface mount, which is an indoor, general-purpose rating: it guards against incidental contact and falling dirt, not rain, hose spray, or washdown. A weather resistant gasket ships with it, which helps in a covered loading dock or parking structure, but a fully exposed exterior location needs a rated outdoor enclosure instead.

No back box in the wall is required. The CI-3502 comes with a surface mount ABS box that fastens to the wall or a column face, so it works on block, concrete, and steel where you cannot open a cavity. The assembly measures 5-1/8 x 5-1/8 x 2 inches (130mm x 130mm x 51mm), which is the footprint to plan around when you are locating it clear of a gate track or grille pocket.

Only within the contact rating: 6 A at 125 VAC. That is enough for a control or signal circuit into a gate or grille operator's terminal strip, and enough for a small pilot load, but it is not a motor starter. A 120V motor drawing more than 6 A must go through a contactor or the operator's own control board, with the CI-3502 switching the coil or the operator input.

A plain key switch only starts the operator. The CI-3502 is a double action unit: the keyed side runs the grille or gate open and closed, and the red mushroom stop button, wired through its own normally closed contact, breaks the run circuit so anyone can halt a moving door without a key. That matters wherever the public or unkeyed staff are near the opening. If nothing needs to stop the door mid-travel and only keyholders are present, a single-gang key switch without the stop is the simpler part.

It ships keyed different, meaning its cylinder is unique to the switch and will not match anything else on the property, with two keys supplied. If you are standardizing a fleet of gates or grilles so one key runs all of them, plan on having a locksmith replace the supplied 1-1/8 inch mortise cylinder with one cut to your system. Order the cylinders at the same time so the install is a single trip.

No radio and no network. The CI-3502 is a hardwired mechanical key switch with dry contacts, so it interfaces with any operator, control board, or access panel that accepts a dry contact input. There is no credential reader, no programming, and nothing to enroll: the key is the credential.

Double gang. Both the key cylinder and the red mushroom stop button sit on one double gang stainless steel faceplate, and the surface box supplied with it is sized to match, so you are not fitting two separate devices side by side.
