CAMDEN CM-42 SERIES 42" TALL MOUNTING POST

Camden mounting posts offer a superior method of mounting a switch, keypad, card reader, or other door activation device, when mounting adjacent to the door is difficult or unsuitable. The various preps allow for use with virtually any switch or door activation device. Mounting posts are available in stainless steel or aluminum. Aluminum posts offer the option for mill, brushed aluminum or dark bronze anodized finishes. The mounting post has provisions to be hard-wired, or for wireless operation utilizing Camden radio controls.

1) Do I need the in-ground mounting base version of the Camden CM-42 post, or the one without a base?
Both are orderable. Order the -IG in-ground base when you are setting the post into concrete or soil at a gate, drive lane, or new walkway pour. Order the version without a mounting base when the post is going onto an existing slab or structure you are anchoring to. The choice is made at order time and is not field-convertible, so pick it off the site condition, not the finish.
2) Can I run a Camden CM-42 post without pulling wire out to it?
Yes. The CM-42 post is built with provisions for hard-wired runs or for wireless operation using Camden radio controls, so an island post in the middle of a walkway does not have to have conduit trenched to it for the signal. Note that a wireless transmitter still needs its own power source at the post unless it is battery powered.

Switch, keypad, card reader, or other door activation device all mount to Camden posts, and the range of available preps is what makes that work: the prep in the post face is cut for the device family you are installing. A single CM-42 handles one device face, so an entrance where people approach from both the exterior and the interior takes two posts, or one post plus a wall or jamb mounted actuator on the side that has something to mount to. Order the finish to match on both, and keep the in-ground or no-base choice separate per location since the two sides often sit on different surfaces.
