Kinetic by Camden is an advanced 900 MHz. wireless system that uses the energy created by the operation of the switch to power the wireless transmitter. Kinetic by Camden avoids the need to provide power or batteries, saving installation and maintenance costs. 1) Does the Camden CM-RFK46/4 wireless push plate kit need batteries or wiring at the switch?
No batteries and no power run to the push plate. The Kinetic by Camden system harvests the energy created by pressing the switch itself and uses that to power the 900 MHz transmitter, so the plates mount anywhere without conduit, low voltage wire, or battery changes later. Only the receiver side needs power.
2) What actually comes in the Camden CM-RFK46/4 kit?
It is a two-switch kit: (2) CM-46K/4 push plates with the wheelchair symbol and 'push to open' in blue, (2) CM-43CBL standard depth surface boxes in double wall black ABS polymer with provision for wireless, and (1) CM-RX-90 V2 single relay receiver. That covers both sides of one opening (interior and exterior actuator) plus the receiver.
3) Will the CM-RX-90 V2 receiver fit inside my automatic door operator cabinet?
That is what it was built for. The CM-RX-90 V2 is an ultra-compact receiver that installs easily inside automatic door operator cabinets, and it carries one relay output to trigger the operator.
4) Can the relay be set for a timed hold instead of a momentary pulse?
Yes. The receiver relay is field selectable for momentary, delayed, or latching operation, so you can pick a simple pulse to the operator, a delayed output, or a latch-on-latch-off action from the same unit. Range is adjustable as well, which helps when you need to keep the pickup from bleeding into an adjacent opening.
5) Is the Camden Kinetic push plate ADA compliant for activation force?
The switch operates with a maximum of 3.4 lbs of force, which Camden states as ADA compliant activation. That matters on barrier-free entrances where a stiff actuator can fail inspection.
6) I already have a Lazerpoint RF system in the building. Can I add these Kinetic plates to it?
The CM-RX-90 V2 receiver supplied in the CM-RFK46/4 kit works with both Lazerpoint RF and Kinetic by Camden transmitters, selected by a switch on the receiver. So you can standardize on one receiver across openings that mix the two Camden wireless families.
7) Do I have to surface mount these, or can they go in a recessed box?
The kit ships with CM-43CBL surface boxes in black ABS, so surface mounting is ready out of the box. The transmitter assembly is compact enough to fit standard depth mounting boxes if you would rather flush mount into existing wall boxes.
8) Can I use the Kinetic no-battery transmitter with a different Camden push plate style?
Yes. The battery-less transmitter can be ordered built into Camden CM-35, CM-40, CM-45, CM-46, CM-60 and CM-75 series push plate switches, so if you need a different plate size, shape, or graphic than the 4 inch square CM-46K/4 supplied here, order the Kinetic version of that series instead.
9) Is this Camden wireless actuator kit meant for commercial openings or home use?
