Camden Door Controls CM-RX-90 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the difference between the Camden CM-RX-90, CM-RX-91 and CM-RX-92 receivers?
They differ by relay count and how many operating modes you get. The CM-RX-91 is the basic unit: one SPDT relay, one mode. The CM-RX-90 also has a single SPDT relay but offers 3 selectable modes. The CM-RX-92 is the full function version with two SPDT relays and 6 modes. If you only need a wireless transmitter to fire one door operator or strike, the 91 covers it. If you need to drive two outputs from one receiver, or sequence an operator with a lock, you want the 92.
2) How long can I hold the door open with a Camden CM-RX wireless receiver?
Time delay is adjustable on the receiver. On the CM-RX-90 and CM-RX-91 the relay can be set from 1 to 30 seconds. The CM-RX-92 gives you separate timing per relay: relay #1 door open relay 1 to 30 seconds, relay #2 door open output 1 to 15 seconds, and relay #2 door open relay 1 to 30 seconds. That second, shorter window on the 92 is what lets you pulse a lock release before the operator swings the door.
3) Will a Camden CM-RX receiver work with Lazerpoint and Kinetic wireless push plates?
Yes. The CM-RX is Camden's RF receiver for both the Lazerpoint and Kinetic wireless families, and one of the three versions is specifically the V2 Lazerpoint and Kinetic compatible single relay unit. Pair it with the matching Camden transmitter side, such as the CM-TX-9, and the transmitter signal closes the receiver relay to fire your operator or lock.
4) Can I install a Camden wireless receiver and transmitter on an exterior door in a cold climate?
Temperature range depends on the battery chemistry in the transmitter, not the receiver electronics. With alkaline cells the system is rated 32F to 122F (0C to 50C), so it will not survive a freezing exterior vestibule. With lithium cells the range widens to -40F to 122F (-40C to 50C). For any unheated entry, loading dock, or exterior push plate in a northern climate, spec lithium.
5) I need one wireless push plate to release a maglock and then trigger the door operator. Which Camden CM-RX do I order?
Order the CM-RX-92. It is the dual relay version, two SPDT relays with 6 modes, and it carries independent timing on each output: the second relay's door open output is settable 1 to 15 seconds while the door open relay timing runs 1 to 30 seconds. That gives you one relay to drop the lock and a second, separately timed relay to send the operator its activation, from a single wireless transmitter. The single relay CM-RX-90 and CM-RX-91 cannot sequence two devices.
6) How much current does the Camden CM-RX-90 receiver draw, and how do I size the power supply?
The CM-RX-90 draws 23mA to 43mA, the higher figure being when its relay is energized. Size the standby power supply against the 43mA worst case per receiver, then add your lock and operator loads. The CM-TX-9 transmitter side draws only 2 mA, which is why it runs on battery rather than a wired supply.
7) Is the Camden CM-RX receiver suitable for commercial building use?
Yes, the CM-RX is a commercial grade RF receiver. It is the wireless receiving half of a Camden door control system, taking the signal from a battery powered wireless push plate or transmitter and closing a dry relay contact that your access control, electric lock, or low energy operator reads as a request to open. Typical uses are barrier free restroom entries, vestibules, and retrofit openings where running wire from the actuator back to the door is impractical.
