1) Does the Camden CX-PS13V3 power supply plug into 120V, or do I need a separate transformer?
A transformer is required. The CX-PS13V3 is a board-only linear supply that takes 6 to 26 VAC on the input, so you need a 120 VAC transformer with a 6-26 VAC secondary feeding it. The exact secondary voltage depends on the DC output you select. Budget for the transformer and an enclosure as separate line items on the order.
2) Will an 800 mA power supply run my electric strikes?
800 mA is the total output of the Camden CX-PS13 linear supply, with 200 mA of that available as battery charging current. It is sized for one or two typical electric strikes, a card reader package, or a washroom control package, not for a bank of door openers or high draw maglocks. Add up the holding current of every device on the circuit and stay under 800 mA.
3) Can the Camden CX-PS13V3 output 12V and 24V, or do I have to pick one?
Output is selectable on the board: 6, 12 or 24 VDC. Ordered with the ADJ option it becomes adjustable from 2 to 24 VDC. It is one output at a time, so a job mixing 12 VDC and 24 VDC devices needs two supplies or a multi-output unit.
4) Will the Camden CX-PS13 board fit inside my existing door controller or strike enclosure?
The board measures 2-3/4 inches by 1-1/2 inches by 1-3/4 inches (69 x 38 x 46 mm). There is no cabinet included, so it is meant to be mounted inside an existing enclosure, back box or control cabinet. Allow clearance on the height dimension for the components standing off the board.
5) Does the Camden CX-PS13 support a backup battery?
It provides 200 mA of charging current within its 800 mA total output, so a standby battery can be connected and trickle charged. Remember the charging current comes out of the same 800 mA budget as your locks, so size the load accordingly.
6) What happens to the Camden CX-PS13 if an electric strike shorts out?
Output protection is a PPTC resettable fuse, described as self-resetting smart fuse protection. A short or overload on the strike wiring trips the fuse, and it restores itself once the fault is cleared and the device cools. No fuse to replace and no service call for a blown cartridge.
7) Is the Camden CX-PS13 clean enough to power a card reader without noise problems?
Ripple is under 40 mV on the regulated DC output, which is why it is used with MProx card access systems as well as strikes. Efficiency runs 85 percent at 12 VDC and 90 percent at 24 VDC.
8) Is the Camden CX-PS13V3 rated for commercial buildings or is it a residential part?
