Camden CX-TR Series CX-TRX-2024 4 VAC, 20 VA Panel Mount Transformer

The CX-TRX-2024 is a panel mount transformer, the nipple-mount style that threads into a knockout on an electrical box or access control enclosure rather than plugging into a receptacle. Camden's CX-TR family also includes standard and plug-in versions, so if you want a wall-wart style supply at a nearby outlet instead of a unit mounted into the panel, choose the plug-in version rather than this one.

No. The CX-TR transformers are AC output units, so a DC device needs rectification. Camden's CX-5024 rectifier is the piece that converts the AC power for use with DC powered devices, and that is what you add between the transformer and a DC lock or strike. An AC-rated strike can run straight off the transformer.

Allow for a body measuring 2 x 2-3/8 x 2-1/4 inches, plus the mounting nipple and lead length once it is threaded into the knockout. That is small enough for most access control or power supply enclosures, but worth checking against a crowded box before you commit the space.

Size it by VA, not by device count. Add up the inrush and holding draw of everything on the circuit and compare it to the transformer's VA rating; a single low-VA unit will feed one strike or one push plate circuit comfortably, but multiple maglocks or a controller plus locks generally want a larger transformer or separate units per door. Camden's CX-TR series spans 12 to 24 VAC in several ratings so you can match the load.

It is a commercial-grade low voltage power accessory, used to feed access control devices like electric strikes, maglocks, push plates and controllers in commercial openings. Camden's CX-TR line covers 12 to 24 VAC for low voltage system applications generally.
