Cantex 5140104 Schedule 40/80 PVC Male/Female Terminal Adapter, Gray, 3/4-Inch
The Cantex 5140104 is a Schedule 40/80 Gray PVC Male/Female Terminal Adapter sized at 3/4-Inch, designed to transition rigid PVC conduit runs into threaded connections at boxes, panels, and equipment enclosures. Molded from durable PVC material, this terminal adapter combines a male threaded end with a female slip/socket connection, giving installers flexible termination options on a single fitting. Its Schedule 40/80 rated construction makes it suitable for a wide range of electrical raceway applications where corrosion resistance and non-conductive properties are required.
Key Features
- Trade Size: 3/4-Inch sizing for standard PVC conduit runs and terminations.
- Durable Construction: Gray PVC material provides corrosion resistance and long-term durability in electrical raceway systems.
- Schedule 40/80 Rated: Rated for Schedule 40/80 applications, supporting a broad range of conduit installation requirements.
- Male/Female Configuration: Combination male threaded and female socket ends allow versatile connection options between conduit and threaded equipment.
- Non-Metallic Material: PVC construction resists corrosion, making it well suited for conduit systems where metallic fittings are not desired.
- Gray Finish: Standard Gray color consistent with Schedule 40/80 PVC conduit and fitting systems for a uniform installation appearance.

Cantex 5140104 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will a 3/4 inch Cantex terminal adapter work with Schedule 80 conduit, or only Schedule 40?
Both. The 5140104 is rated Schedule 40/80, so it serves 3/4 inch runs of either wall thickness. Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 share the same outside diameter at a given trade size, so the socket end takes either one.
2) Is a terminal adapter the right fitting for entering a panelboard, or should I use a male adapter?
For a 3/4 inch PVC run landing on a threaded panel or enclosure entry, the 5140104 terminal adapter does the job in one piece: conduit cements into the socket, the threaded nose takes a locknut or screws into the hub. A plain male adapter gives you the same threaded nose but no female socket on the back side, so the terminal adapter is the choice when you want both connection styles on one fitting.
3) Can I use a PVC terminal adapter instead of a metal fitting in a corrosive area?
That is one of the main reasons to pick it. The 5140104 is molded PVC, non-metallic and non-conductive, so it does not corrode the way steel or aluminum fittings do in damp, chemical, or buried environments. Use it where you want the whole raceway system non-metallic.
4) Do I need glue for the Cantex 5140104, or is it a threaded fitting on both ends?
Only one end is threaded. The female socket side is a slip joint that takes PVC solvent cement, so you will need conduit cement on the job; cement is not part of the fitting. The male side threads directly into a hub or enclosure entry with no glue.
5) What part number do I order for a 3/4 inch Cantex male/female PVC terminal adapter?
Cantex part number 5140104. That number covers the 3/4 inch gray PVC male/female terminal adapter; Cantex uses separate numbers for the other trade sizes, so the size is baked into the part number rather than ordered as an option.
6) Is this PVC adapter gray or white, and will it match my existing conduit?
Gray. That is the standard color for electrical Schedule 40/80 PVC conduit and fittings, so the 5140104 matches a typical gray raceway run. White PVC in the same sizes is plumbing pressure pipe, not electrical raceway.
