Cantex EZ18CO 18 Cu In PVC Round Junction Box

The Cantex EZ18CO is an 18 cubic inch, 3/0 round junction box built from durable PVC for use in low-voltage and lighting installations where a lightweight, corrosion-resistant enclosure is required. Cantex engineers this round box as part of its EZ-series line of nonmetallic electrical boxes, giving installers a dependable, code-supportive connection point for splices, fixture mounting, and conductor junctions. Because the box is molded from PVC rather than metal, it resists rust, corrosion, and the moisture-related degradation that can affect steel enclosures over time, making it a practical choice for a wide range of residential and light commercial wiring applications.

Key Features

  • Capacity: 18 cubic inch interior volume (3/0 round box designation) provides ample room for conductor splices and device connections within a compact footprint.
  • Durable Construction: Molded PVC body resists corrosion, rust, and moisture intrusion, extending service life versus uncoated metal boxes.
  • Round Box Profile: The round shape is designed for fixture and junction applications where a compact, non-rectangular enclosure is preferred.
  • Lightweight Design: PVC construction keeps the box lightweight for easier handling, positioning, and mounting on the jobsite compared to metallic alternatives.
  • Nonconductive Material: As a PVC enclosure, the EZ18CO adds a layer of electrical insulation around splices and connections housed inside.
  • EZ-Series Design: Part of the Cantex EZ line of nonmetallic electrical boxes engineered for straightforward installation in standard wiring runs.

Cantex EZ18CO – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How much wire fill does the Cantex EZ18CO round box give me?
The EZ18CO is an 18 cubic inch round box, carrying the 3/0 round designation. That volume is what you work against when you count conductors, devices, and clamps for box fill, so it covers typical splice and fixture-junction work without going to a larger enclosure.
2) Is the Cantex EZ18CO metal or nonmetallic?
It is molded PVC, not steel. That makes it a nonmetallic, nonconductive enclosure that resists rust and corrosion, and it is noticeably lighter to handle and position than a metal box of the same capacity.
3) Can I use a PVC round junction box in a damp or corrosive area instead of a steel box?
Corrosion is the main reason to pick the EZ18CO over an uncoated steel box. The PVC body does not rust and resists moisture-related degradation, which is why it gets specified where steel enclosures would deteriorate. It is intended for residential and light commercial wiring rather than heavy industrial duty.
4) Will a Cantex EZ18CO work with PVC conduit runs?
Yes. The EZ18CO is built as part of Cantex's EZ-series nonmetallic box line for use in nonmetallic conduit and raceway systems, so it suits an all-PVC run where you want the box and the raceway to be the same material family.
5) Is a round junction box or a square box the better choice for mounting a light fixture?
A round box like the EZ18CO is the usual pick at a fixture point: the round profile matches fixture canopies and round covers, and it keeps the footprint compact. Go to a square or octagon box when you need the extra corner volume or a rectangular device cover. The EZ18CO is intended for fixture mounting, splices, and conductor junctions.
6) What is the exact part number to order the Cantex 18 cubic inch round PVC box?
Order it as Cantex EZ18CO. That single model covers the 18 cubic inch, 3/0 round PVC box, so there are no finish or size options to specify.
