OATEY 274011 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Cherne 274011 extension hose used for?
It is a 2 foot extension hose with a 3/16 inch inside diameter, used to move the inflation point of a Cherne test plug away from the plug itself so you can inflate and deflate from outside the pipe or manhole. Cherne rates it for plugs up to 15 inches.
2) Will this extension hose work on a Cherne plug larger than 15 inches?
No. The 274011 hose is rated for plugs up to 15 inches. On larger plugs the required air volume is beyond what this 3/16 inch ID hose is specified for, so you need the heavier extension hose Cherne lists for large-diameter plugs.
3) Is 2 feet long enough to reach out of a manhole with the Cherne 274011?
Two feet is the length of this hose, which suits getting the valve clear of the pipe end or just past a wye or cleanout. For running the inflation point up out of a manhole or to grade, you want one of the longer Cherne extension hose lengths instead.
