OATEY 274038 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size test plugs does the Cherne 3 ft. extension hose work with?
The Cherne 274038 extension hose is intended for inflatable test plugs up to 15 inches. If you are inflating plugs larger than 15 inches, this is not the hose to use.
2) Is the Oatey 274038 a complete test plug or just the hose?
Just the hose. The 274038 is a 3 foot, 3/16 inch ID extension hose that connects to a Cherne inflatable plug you already have. You will still need the plug itself and a gauge or pump to inflate it.
3) Why would I need an extension hose for an inflatable test plug?
It moves the inflation and deflation point away from the plug. On a sewer or drain line test you set the plug down in the pipe or manhole, run the 3 foot hose back to a reachable spot, and inflate or bleed the plug from there without reaching into the line. Handy when the plug sits below grade or behind a cleanout.
4) Can I order the Cherne extension hose in a longer length than 3 feet?
Model 274038 is the 3 foot version with 3/16 inch ID, and that is the single configuration it comes in. For a longer reach you would need a different Cherne hose part number.
5) How much does the Cherne 274038 extension hose weigh for shipping?
Listed product weight is 0.25, with a volume of 0.024. It is a light, single-piece accessory hose.
