1) What trade size conduit does the Thomas & Betts CITBA-1 conduit body take?
The CITBA-1 is a 1 inch trade size body for rigid conduit, with threaded hubs on each opening. Rigid metal conduit and IMC use the same NPT-style taper thread, so 1 inch rigid or 1 inch IMC threads straight into it. For any other run size you need a different size body, not an adapter inside this one.
2) Does a conduit body like the CITBA-1 come with a cover and gasket?
The CITBA-1 is ordered as the body itself, model CITBA-1. Conduit bodies of this type use a separate cover, and a gasket if the location calls for one, so plan on specifying the matching cover and gasket for a 1 inch Type TB body along with it. Leaving the body open is not an acceptable finish on an installed run.
3) Is the CITBA-1 conduit body metal or plastic?
Cast aluminum. That makes it suitable for the same runs as aluminum or galvanized rigid conduit above grade, and it keeps the body in the equipment grounding path through the threaded hubs. Where the run is in direct contact with concrete, masonry, or soil, or around chlorides, aluminum is the wrong choice and a different material body should be specified.
4) Can I use the CITBA-1 as a pull point for conductors in a long conduit run?
Yes, that is one of the main reasons a 1 inch Type TB body goes into a run. Take the cover off and you have access to pull and feed conductors at that point instead of fighting the whole run from the ends. Keep in mind conduit bodies have conductor fill and splice limits based on their size and cross section, so if you intend to splice rather than just pull through, verify the body is large enough for the splice you are making.
