Watts 711602 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What pipe size does the Watts 711602 Blueline no-hub coupling fit?
The 711602 is sized for 1-1/2 inch pipe. It is a no-hub connection, so it joins plain-end pipe and fittings of that size rather than threading or socket-fusing them.
2) Can I use the Watts 711602 no-hub coupling on standard cast iron or PVC DWV pipe?
No. The 711602 is an FRPP Blueline fitting, built to join Blueline polypropylene drainage pipe of the same 1-1/2 inch size. For cast iron or PVC DWV you want a coupling made for that system, not this one.
3) What material is the Watts Blueline 711602 coupling made of, and what does that mean for chemical drainage?
Body material is FRPP, flame retardant polypropylene. That is the Blueline drainage system material, so the coupling is matched to the same chemical and high temperature waste piping it connects rather than to standard DWV plastics.
4) What is the wall thickness on the 1-1/2 inch Watts Blueline no-hub coupling?
Wall thickness is 0.15 inch. That is the figure to check against the pipe schedule you are joining, since a no-hub joint relies on the coupling body and the pipe ends matching up dimensionally.
5) Is the Watts 711602 a mechanical no-hub coupling or does it need to be fused?
It is a no-hub connection type, meaning the joint is made mechanically over the plain pipe ends rather than by solvent weld or threading. That makes it the practical choice where a lab or chemical waste line has to come apart later for service.
