2) Is the Watts 718000 coupling a solvent weld or threaded fitting?
Neither. It is a Rionfuse connection, an electrofusion joint, so it is not glued and not threaded. You need the matching fusion equipment to make the joint up. If your run is solvent cemented PVC or threaded metal, this coupling won't work on it.
3) What is the Watts 718000 coupling made of, and what kind of system is it used on?
The body is FRPP, fiberglass-reinforced polypropylene, which is what Watts Blueline compressed air piping uses. It is a plastic pressure-pipe fitting, not a metal valve body, so it suits FRPP Blueline air distribution rather than being mixed into copper or steel runs.
4) Can I use the 718000 to join Blueline pipe of a different diameter?
No. The 718000 is a straight coupling sized for 1-1/2 inch pipe only, both ends the same. To change size you need a Blueline reducing fitting in the sizes you're going between, not this coupling.
