Red Dot CCK – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Red Dot CCK gasket actually for?
It is a single gang gasket, part number CCK, used with weatherproof covers on outdoor outlet boxes. The gasket sits between the cover and the box to seal out water at the device opening. It is the seal only, not a cover or a box.
2) What material is the Red Dot CCK weatherproof cover gasket made of?
Neoprene, in black. Neoprene holds up to sun, moisture and temperature swings better than a paper or foam gasket, which is why it is used behind exterior weatherproof covers.
3) I'm replacing a leaking outdoor receptacle cover on a rental property. Do I need a new gasket too?
Yes, replace the gasket whenever you pull the cover. A neoprene gasket like the Red Dot CCK is the part that actually makes the seal at the box face, and an old one that has taken a set or cracked will keep letting water in even behind a new cover. The CCK covers single gang openings and is sold individually, so grab one per receptacle you are reworking.
4) Does the Red Dot CCK come as one gasket or a pack?
It is sold each, so one gasket per unit. If you are sealing several boxes on a job, order one per cover.
