Red Dot CCSK – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the Red Dot CCSK and what does it do?
The CCSK is a single gang cover gasket from Red Dot. It sits between a weatherproof cover and the box or device plate to seal the joint against water and dust. It is a gasket only, so it does not include the cover or the box.
2) Will the CCSK gasket fit a two gang weatherproof cover?
No. The CCSK is cut for a single gang opening, so it won't line up with a two gang cover's device openings or screw holes. For a two gang weatherproof cover you need the matching two gang gasket instead.
3) Do I need a gasket behind an outdoor receptacle cover, or is the cover enough?
On a weatherproof installation the gasket is what makes the seal. The cover's flat flange alone leaves a path for water at the box face, so a single gang gasket like the Red Dot CCSK goes between the cover and the box before you tighten the cover screws. It is specified for use with weatherproof covers.
4) Is the CCSK gasket sold individually or in a bag of multiples?
Each. The CCSK single gang gasket is sold as an individual piece, so if you are gasketing a run of exterior receptacles you order one per cover.
5) What color is the Red Dot single gang cover gasket, and will it show once installed?
It's black, and it is sandwiched between the cover and the box, so only a thin edge is visible at the perimeter of the cover. Against gray or bronze weatherproof covers that edge reads as a shadow line rather than a contrast stripe.
