1) What does the Oatey Dearborn P9114A end outlet waste kit include?
The P9114A ships as a complete double-bowl continuous waste assembly: 2 waste arms, 2 Hi-Line nipples, 4 slip nuts and 4 washers, plus the baffle tee itself. You connect it to the sink strainers and to the trap; tailpieces, the P-trap and the strainers are separate items.
2) Will the P9114A fit my double-bowl sink drain spacing?
It is built for 16 inch center-to-center spacing between the two bowl outlets, in 1-1/2 inch tube size. If your bowl drains measure further apart, Oatey's Dearborn continuous waste comes in a 21 inch length as well. Measure outlet center to outlet center under the sink before you pick the length.
3) Does the baffle tee waste connect with slip joints or do I have to glue it?
Slip joint throughout. The nuts and washers compress onto the tubing, so the assembly goes together with hand-tight nuts and no solvent cement or threading. That also means it can be loosened and re-aligned if the bowl spacing is slightly off.
4) What is a baffle tee for on a two-bowl sink waste?
The baffle inside the tee keeps drainage from one bowl from backing up into the other instead of running down to the trap. On a double-bowl kitchen sink where one side holds standing water or feeds a disposer, that baffle is what stops cross-flow between bowls. A plain tee without the baffle will let water push into the adjacent bowl.
5) Is the Dearborn P9114A metal or plastic, and what color is it?
Polypropylene plastic, finished white on the P9114A. Oatey also builds this Dearborn continuous waste in black polypropylene if you need it to disappear behind an open-base or glass-front cabinet. Polypropylene will not corrode like chrome-plated brass tubular waste, but it is not a match if the spec on the job calls for exposed brass.
6) Can I upgrade the washers on this Oatey continuous waste for a better seal?
Yes. The Dearborn continuous waste line is offered with True Blue Premium Washers as an option for tighter sealing. The standard P9114A comes with 4 washers and 4 slip nuts included; if you are working a maintenance route where callbacks on weeping slip joints are the problem, specify the True Blue washer version.
7) How heavy is the P9114A waste assembly for a parts order?
