OATEY 1099B – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Oatey 1099B escutcheon fit 1/2 inch copper supply tubing?
Yes. The 1099B Dearborn flange is sized for 5/8 inch O.D. tubing, which is 1/2 inch nominal copper, and the opening is 7/8 inch OD to clear CTS tubing. So it slips over a standard 1/2 inch copper stub coming out of the wall. It does not include the tubing.
2) What does a flange like the Oatey 1099B actually do on a supply line?
It is a trim ring, not a plumbing fitting. The 1099B slides over the tubing where it penetrates the wall and covers the ragged drywall or tile opening around it. It carries no water and does not seal the joint, so it goes on before the stop valve is set.
3) Do I need one 1099B per fixture or two?
One per tubing penetration. A lavatory with separate hot and cold stubs takes two; a toilet with a single cold supply takes one. Each 1099B covers one 5/8 inch O.D. tube.
4) Is the Oatey 1099B chrome plated, and will it match chrome angle stops and supplies?
Chrome plated finish, which is the same look as standard chrome-plated brass stop valves and risers. For a unit turn or a bathroom remodel where all the exposed supply trim is chrome, it matches.
5) How is the Oatey 1099B ordered and identified on a purchase order?
It is a single-model item, Oatey Dearborn part number 1099B. There is no finish or size choice to specify, so the MPN alone is enough for a distributor or MRO order.
6) How much does the 1099B flange weigh for stocking and freight purposes?
Listed at 0.022 in the vendor spec data, so it is effectively a stamped trim piece. Property managers and MRO buyers stock these by the box without any meaningful weight penalty.
