Delaney Hardware 504254 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will a Delaney 5 foot curved shower rod fit a standard 60 inch tub alcove?
Yes. The Delaney curved shower rod set is sized at 5 ft, which matches the standard 60 inch alcove tub opening wall to wall. The curve bows out toward the shower, so the rod covers that same 60 inch span between the two flanges while pushing the curtain outward for elbow room inside the tub.
2) What is a concealed screw flange on a shower rod, and does it change how it mounts?
The flange is the round escutcheon that anchors each end of the rod to the wall. On the Delaney curved rod set the flange is a concealed screw design, so the mounting screws sit behind the cover rather than showing on the face of the trim once it is installed. It still fastens to the wall with screws through the flange base, the heads just are not visible when you are done.
3) What finishes does the Delaney curved shower rod set come in?
Two: US26 polished chrome and US19 black. US26 is the bright chrome that matches most standard tub and shower trim, and US19 is a flat black. Those are the only two, so if the bath is running brushed nickel or bronze, this rod will not match it.
4) Is the Delaney curved shower rod set meant for apartments and rental units, or for commercial and institutional bathrooms?
Residential duty. Delaney classes this curved rod set as a residential product, which puts it in single family homes, apartments, and condo bathrooms. For a hotel, dorm, hospital, or locker room shower where the rod gets grabbed and hung on daily, a property manager should be specifying a commercial grade rod rather than this one.
5) Does the Delaney 5 foot curved shower rod come with the wall flanges and mounting hardware, or do I order those separately?
It is sold as a set, rod plus the two concealed screw flanges, so the wall ends come with it. What you supply is the shower curtain, the curtain rings or hooks, and any wall anchors your substrate needs, tile, fiberglass surround and stud all take different anchors.
6) If I am replacing rods across a building, can I order the same Delaney curved rod in matched finishes for every unit?
Yes, and that is the practical reason to spec one model across a portfolio. The Delaney 5 ft curved set is offered in US26 polished chrome and US19 black, so a manager standardizing a turn program picks one of those two and every unit gets the same rod, the same 5 ft span, and the same concealed screw flange. Keep in mind these are residential duty rods.
