Delaney Hardware 3C6002 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Delaney F Series CT lever fit a 1-3/8 inch door, or does it need a standard 1-3/4 inch commercial door?
Both work. The F Series CT entrance lever uses an adjustable mounting plate covering 1-3/8 inch through 2 inch doors, so it handles older 1-3/8 interior doors, standard 1-3/4 commercial doors, and thicker custom slabs without a separate kit.
2) Will this Delaney lever drop into the bores left by the lockset I'm pulling off?
If the door is prepped to the standard cylindrical pattern, yes. The F Series CT needs a 2-1/8 inch cross bore, a 1 inch edge bore, and a 1-1/8 x 2-1/4 inch latch face with square corners. Backset is ordered as either 2-3/4 or 2-3/8 inch, so you match whichever your door already has rather than re-boring.
3) Do I have to specify handing when ordering the Delaney F Series entrance lever?
No handing to call out. The F Series CT cylindrical lever is non-handed, so one part number covers left and right hand openings. That is why property managers can stock a single item for a whole building.
4) Is the Delaney F Series lever rated for a high-traffic commercial opening?
It is a Grade 1 commercial lockset, meeting and exceeding BHMA/ANSI A156.2 Series 4000, Grade 1 at 800,000 cycles, and it also meets the FF-H-106C federal standard. That covers heavy-use openings in schools, healthcare, and multifamily corridors.
5) Can the Delaney F Series entrance lever be used on a fire rated door?
The latch bolt is stainless steel with a 1/2 inch throw and meets a 3-hour fire rating. Entrance latches are the 2-3/4 inch F9070T standard or the 2-3/8 inch F9060T.
6) Can I get the Delaney F Series lever keyed into my existing Schlage or Kwikset system?
Keyway is a required choice at ordering: SC4 6-pin is standard, with KW1 5-pin and SC1 5-pin available. So it can be cut to a Schlage or Kwikset keyway. You also pick keyed different or keyed alike, and a key charge line if you are supplying specific bittings.
7) Does the Delaney F Series come in an SFIC version, and does the core come with it?
Yes, a small-format 6-pin interchangeable core version is offered, and it ships less core. You supply the SFIC core from your own keying system. When you take that option, select None on the keyway and keying choices.
8) Need a lever for a restroom or exam room door instead of a keyed opening - what should I use in place of the Delaney F Series CT entrance lever?
The Delaney F Series CT lever is a keyed entrance function, so the outside lever is locked and released with a key and the inside has a turn-button. That is the wrong function for a restroom or exam room, where you want no key on the outside and a visible status. For that opening, look at the Cal-Royal INDLEV-20, a privacy leverset with a red/green occupancy indicator so staff and patients can see at a glance whether the room is in use. Both cover 2-3/8 inch and 2-3/4 inch backsets, so the door prep does not change between them.
9) Is the Cal-Royal INDLEV-20 an acceptable substitute where the spec calls for a Grade 1 lever?
No. The Delaney F Series CT lever is Grade 1 and is stated to meet and exceed BHMA/ANSI A156.2 Series 4000, Grade 1 at 800,000 cycles, plus Federal Standard FF-H-106C. The Cal-Royal INDLEV-20 is listed as standard duty commercial grade, so it does not answer a drawing that calls for Grade 1. Use the INDLEV-20 where the requirement is a privacy indicator function rather than a cycle-rated Grade 1 lock.
10) What strike comes with the Delaney F Series lever, and will it work in my existing frame cutout?
It ships with the 4-7/8 inch ANSI strike, part 9109. That is the full-lip ANSI prep most hollow metal commercial frames are already cut for. If your frame has a small T-strike prep instead, the frame lip has to be modified or the strike changed.
11) How does the keyed entry function on this Delaney lever actually operate day to day?
Key locks and unlocks from outside. Inside, a pushbutton in the lever locks the outside lever. Turning the inside lever or using the outside key releases the button automatically, and closing the door does not release it. Turn the button to horizontal and it stays locked until you release it manually. The clutch is panic proof, so the outside lever spins free when locked instead of forcing the mechanism.
12) I need a restroom lever with an occupied indicator, not a keyed entry. What should I look at instead?
The F Series CT here is a keyed entrance function, so it is the wrong tool for a restroom. Cal-Royal's INDLEV-20 is a privacy leverset with a red/green occupancy indicator, available in 2-3/8 and 2-3/4 inch backsets and adjustable for 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inch doors. Note it is a standard duty commercial lever, not Grade 1, so on a high-cycle opening the trade-off is durability for the indicator.
13) Do I need to order through bolts or extra mounting hardware with the Delaney F Series lever?
No separate hardware to add. The lockset uses removable through bolts and concealed mounting screws as part of the assembly, plus an independent torsion spring to keep the lever from sagging and an anti-friction latch retractor. You order the lockset, the backset, and the latch matched to it.
14) We have 2 inch thick commercial doors - will the Cal-Royal INDLEV-20 work, or do we need the Delaney F Series?
The Cal-Royal INDLEV-20 adjusts for doors 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch, so a 2 inch door is outside its range. The Delaney F Series CT lever uses an adjustable mounting plate covering 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch door thickness, which takes the heavier leaf. Door prep for the Delaney is a 2-1/8 inch cross bore, 1 inch edge bore, and a 1-1/8 inch by 2-1/4 inch latch face.
15) If I standardize a building on the Delaney F Series CT, can I keep the same lever look on the non-keyed doors?
On the keyed openings the Delaney F Series CT entrance lever handles the work: key outside, turn-button inside, clutch-style panic proof lever, and an anti-friction latch retractor. It is offered in US26D dull chrome and US10B oil rubbed bronze, with standard cylinder or small-format interchangeable core prep, and handing is not required. For the restroom and other privacy doors, a Cal-Royal INDLEV-20 privacy lever with a red/green occupancy indicator covers the function, though it is a different lever and will not visually match the Delaney trim.
16) What finishes does the Delaney F Series CT entrance lever come in?
Two: US26D dull chrome and US10B oil rubbed bronze. Both are offered with either the standard cylinder or the SFIC less-core version, so you can match a building's existing finish and still standardize on your core system.
