1) Will the Delaney Logan pushbutton entrance leverset fit a 1-3/8 inch door, or only a 1-3/4?
Both. The Logan entrance leverset adjusts from 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inches, so the same lock covers a thinner older interior door and a standard 1-3/4 inch exterior slab. It also ships to suit either common backset, 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inches, so you do not have to know which bore spacing the door was drilled to before you order.
2) Will the Delaney Logan lever drop into the holes already bored in my door?
If the door was bored to the standard cylindrical pattern, yes. The Logan needs a 2-1/8 inch cross bore through the face and a 1 inch edge bore for the latch, at a 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inch backset. That is the same prep almost every residential knob or lever uses, so replacing an existing bored lockset usually means no new drilling. The latch face is round corner and the strike is a full lip round corner, so if the door edge and jamb were prepped for a square corner face, you will need to swap or file the mortise for the rounded plate.
3) Do I have to order a left hand and a right hand version of the Delaney Logan leverset?
No. The Logan is reversible for left or right hand doors, so one part number covers both swings. On a job with a mix of door swings you order the same item throughout and set the handing at install.
4) How does a pushbutton entrance lock actually work day to day, and can I leave it locked?
The button is on the inside lever and it locks the outside lever. Turning the inside lever, or using the key from outside, pops the button back out automatically, so nobody gets shut out by walking through. Closing the door does not release it either, which is what you want on an entry door. If you want it to stay locked, turn the button to horizontal and it stays fixed in the locked position until you turn it back. That last part matters for a mechanical room or a unit you are holding secure between tenants.
5) Can I key the Delaney Logan to my existing Kwikset or Schlage keys?
Keyway is a choice at order time: KW1 5-pin or SC1 5-pin. Pick the one that matches the keys already in your buildings and the locks run on your existing key. You also choose keyed different or keyed alike, so a fleet of units can be keyed alike per building or per unit. Different jobs. The Logan pushbutton entrance lever is keyed, so it belongs on a door where somebody outside needs a key to get in: unit entry, back door, storage, office suite. A privacy lever has no key cylinder and just holds the door against casual entry from inside, which is what a bathroom or bedroom wants. 8) Can the Delaney Logan lever be used on a hollow metal door as well as a wood door?
