That 5 inch reach is the number that matters in a tight powder room or a narrow multi-family bath, where anything sitting proud of the vanity edge gets caught by a shoulder or a shower curtain. Measure from the finished wall, not the tile edge, before you set the mounting holes.

Body and mounting bracket are solid brass, with a frosted glass dish. Deltana rates the BBS line for commercial use, so it is built for tenant bathrooms, hospitality baths, and common-area restrooms rather than residential only. The glass dish is the wear item in a high-traffic setting; brass posts do not rust the way a plated pot-metal bracket does when it sits in constant humidity.

Wall mount. The 2 inch base is the wall bracket footprint and the dish cantilevers 5 inches out from it, so it needs a solid anchor point, blocking, a stud, or proper tile anchors. If you want something that sits loose on a vanity top, this is the wrong part; look for a countertop soap dish instead.

If you are matching a whole floor of units, order all the BBS pieces for a bath in one go, since finish batches on brass, particularly Oil Rubbed Bronze, are a living finish and vary between production runs.
