Deltana CF66 Window Lock, Casement Fastener, Medium

The CF66 is the hand-operated latch for a side-hinged casement sash. It mounts on the sash and pulls it tight against the frame when you swing the handle over. It is not the part for a double-hung window, where the two sashes meet at a horizontal rail and take a sash lock instead, and it is not a locking mechanism for a sliding or awning unit. CF66 is the medium size in Deltana's solid brass casement fastener range.

Screws are in the bag. Each CF66 ships in its own poly bag with matching screws, so the fastener arrives in the finish you ordered and the screw heads match it. Nothing else has to be ordered to hang it on the sash.

Solid brass all the way through, body and substrate, not plated pot metal or steel. Brass is non-ferrous, so it will not rust in a humid bath, kitchen, or salt-air exposure the way a steel fastener does. Deltana classes the CF66 as a commercial item, which is the same reason it turns up in multi-family and hospitality work where the window gets operated daily.

Eleven finishes: PVD Polished Brass, Polished Brass, Brushed Brass, Antique Brass, Polished Nickel, Brushed Nickel, Antique Nickel, Polished Chrome, Brushed Chrome, Oil Rubbed Bronze, and Paint Black. That range covers the common Deltana door and cabinet finishes, so if you are standardizing a building you can pick up the window fasteners in the same finish as the lever and hinge program rather than accepting a near miss.

Both start as solid brass. The plain Polished Brass version carries a lacquer over the bright brass, and lacquer eventually wears at a handle that gets gripped every day, letting the brass underneath patina. PVD Polished Brass is a vacuum-deposited coating over the same brass, which is far harder and does not tarnish or wear off with handling. For a window that gets cranked open daily, or one over a sink, order the PVD. For a period restoration where you want the brass to mellow, the standard Polished Brass is the one you want.

No key. A casement fastener is a hand-operated latch, thrown and released by turning the handle, with no cylinder and no keyway, so it cannot be keyed or brought into a master key system. It secures the sash against being pushed open from outside; it does not restrict who opens it from inside. If a tenant-proof or child-safety restriction is what you are after on an operable window, that is a window opening control device or a keyed sash lock, not a casement fastener.

Sold each, priced per piece, so plan one fastener per operable sash. A pair of casement sashes takes two. The only thing to specify when you order is the finish, since that is the sole option on the part, and every unit arrives bagged separately with its screws, which makes counting out a multi-unit window job straightforward.
