Deltana FCA12 Friction Casement Adjuster, 12"

The Deltana FCA12 is a friction stay: it holds a casement sash at whatever position you swing it to, purely by friction in the arm. There is no knob action needed, so you push the window open or pull it closed by hand and it stays there. If you want geared control of the sash from inside the room, a friction stay is the wrong device, that job belongs to a casement operator or crank.

The FCA12 holds by friction alone, so its grip is set by the tension in the arm and nothing latches. On a large or heavy leaf, or an exposed elevation that catches gusts, a friction stay is not a substitute for a positive lock or a limit device, pair it with a separate casement fastener if the opening needs to be held shut against wind load. For normal interior operation, the friction hold is what keeps the sash at a set position without a knob.

Twelve inches. That is the arm length you have to allow for inside the window frame, so measure the clear depth from the hinge jamb to where the stay will land on the sash before ordering, a 12 inch stay wants a sash and frame that can take the full swing of that arm. Deltana builds this one in solid brass.

Solid brass through the body, not plated steel. That matters on coastal and high humidity openings and in bathrooms, where a steel stay will bloom rust at the pivot and seize. Brass substrate also means the finish is applied over brass rather than over a sacrificial base.

Nine finishes on the FCA12: PVD Polished Brass, Polished Brass, Antique Brass, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Brushed Nickel, Antique Nickel, Polished Chrome, Brushed Chrome, and Paint Black. For a fleet of openings where the stays get handled daily, the PVD Polished Brass is the one that holds its color under repeated contact, standard polished brass will patina. Paint Black and Oil Rubbed Bronze are the ones that read closest to dark window frames.

Deltana classes the FCA12 as commercial grade window hardware, which is why it turns up on hospitality, multi-family, and institutional casement retrofits rather than only on residential sash. The solid brass build is the reason it carries that classification.

Sold each, one stay per unit. Casement sash normally take one stay per leaf, so a run of ten windows is ten pieces, and a pair of french casements is two. Order the count by leaf, not by window.
