Deltana HPR30 Stainless Steel Pin for 3" Solid Brass Hinges (DSB3 Series)

If the pin itself is worn, bent, or walked up out of the barrel, swapping in an HPR30 is the repair and it keeps the existing brass leaves and finish in place, no re-mortising and no new screw holes. But if the sag is coming from worn knuckles, a loose jamb leaf, or stripped screws, a new pin won't take it up. Pull the pin and look at it: scored or out of round means replace it, clean and straight means the problem is elsewhere.

It's cut for the Deltana DSB3 Series 3 inch brass hinge. Barrel height, knuckle count, and pin diameter vary between manufacturers, so a pin that measures 2-1/2 inches for one brand's 3 inch hinge will not necessarily seat in another's. If your hinge isn't a Deltana DSB3, match the pin to that hinge's own parts list.

Stainless steel, even though the hinge it goes into is solid brass. The finish is brushed stainless. On a brass hinge the pin sits down inside the barrel and the heads are the only part that shows, so the material difference is barely visible once it's driven home. Stainless is the standard choice for the pin because it's the part carrying the door's weight and pivoting every cycle.

The HPR30 sells one pin at a time, so count your hinges. A standard interior door on two hinges takes two pins, three hinges takes three. If you are going through a building and repinning a run of doors, multiply by the hinge count per leaf, not by the door count.

Deltana lists the HPR30 as a residential part, and the DSB3 brass hinges it serves are residential-duty hinges. For apartment unit doors, condo interiors, and single-family work it's the correct repair pin. On a high-traffic commercial opening, an office corridor or a school door cycling hundreds of times a day, you want a commercial-grade hinge rather than a pin repair on a residential hinge.
