Deltana KP834 Kick Plate 8" x 34" Stainless Steel

It is a commercial-rated plate in stainless steel at 1.10mm gauge. Stainless at that thickness holds up to cart traffic, foot kicks and mop contact in an apartment corridor, a school hallway or a restaurant service door without oil-canning the way a thin decorative plate does. It is stainless throughout, not a plated finish over a softer base, so scuffs do not expose a different metal underneath.

The Deltana KP834 is a stainless steel door protection plate measuring 8 inches by 34 inches, sized for commercial swinging doors. The nearest stainless equivalents are the Hager 190S in satin stainless steel with four beveled edges, and the Ives 8400 Series stainless steel door protection plate, also with beveled edges. All three are the same class of part: a flat metal plate that takes the cart, foot, and hand truck abuse at the bottom of the door so the door face does not. If you are matching an existing plate on adjacent doors, the deciding factors are the finish appearance and the edge treatment rather than the function, since all three serve the same protective role.

The KP834 is symmetrical, so there is no handing to specify. Mount it on the push side of a swinging door, at the bottom rail, where feet and carts make contact. On a pair of doors you order two, one per leaf. If the door gets hit from both directions, a second plate on the pull side is the usual answer, and it is the same part number again.

The brushed stainless version is US32D, the standard satin stainless finish used across commercial door hardware, so it reads the same as US32D hinges, push plates and lever trim on the same opening. For a property manager standardizing a building, that is the finish code to hold to across every door.

If four beveled edges is the requirement, the Hager 190S is the plate that states that treatment directly: it is a satin stainless steel kick plate with four beveled edges. The Ives 8400 Series stainless plate is also a beveled edge plate. Beveled edges matter on high traffic openings because a square edge on a plate at foot height is what catches a cart wheel or a shoe and starts the plate peeling away from the door. For a straightforward stainless plate at 8 inches by 34 inches, the Deltana KP834 covers the same protective job in the same material.

Priced and sold each. One KP834 covers one door face, so a pair of doors takes two, and a door protected on both sides takes two as well. Worth counting the openings before you order if you are doing a corridor of units.
