The SP225 measures 2-1/4 x 1-1/2 inches. That is the common face size for a standard latch strike, so it will normally sit over the same jamb cutout an existing latch strike came out of. Measure the plate you are pulling off first: if its face is larger than 2-1/4 x 1-1/2, some of the old routing will show around the edges.

It is a latch strike. The SP225 is a replacement strike plate for a latch, meaning the spring latch on a passage, privacy, or entry knob or lever. A deadbolt throws into a separate strike with a taller opening, so if you are replacing the plate above the knob on an entry door, that is a deadbolt strike and this is not the part.

Solid brass, both the substrate and the finish material. That matters for two reasons on a commercial opening: brass will not rust in a damp jamb the way a plated steel plate can once the coating wears through, and it takes the polished finishes cleanly so it matches brass knobs and levers already on the door.

Three: PVD Polished Brass, Polished Brass, and Polished Stainless. The difference between the two brass options is the coating. PVD Polished Brass is a physical vapor deposition finish that holds its color under handling and weather; plain Polished Brass is the living finish that will patina over time unless it is kept polished. If you are standardizing a building and want every jamb to look the same in five years, take the PVD.

The SP225 is the face plate itself, a 2-1/4 inch by 1-1/2 inch brass strike plate for a latch. Confirm which prep is already routed into the frame before standardizing a facility on either one, since the two are not interchangeable in the same mortise.
