Detex PP-5067-10 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) My exit device chassis screws keep working loose. Is this the right fix?
That is the job this washer does. A lockwasher provides positive retention so the fastener resists loosening from vibration and repeated mechanical operation, which is the usual cause of a chassis or rail screw backing out on a high-traffic exit device. Confirm the fastener you are replacing under is a #10, since that is the size this washer is made for.
2) What exactly is the Detex PP-5067-10 part?
It's a #10 size lockwasher sold as a genuine Detex replacement part for exit device assemblies. It isn't a lock, latch, or trim piece, just the washer that sits under a fastener to keep it from backing out under vibration and repeated door use. Order it by model PP-5067-10.
3) Do I need an OEM Detex lockwasher, or will a hardware-store #10 washer work?
Mechanically a #10 lockwasher is a #10 lockwasher, but the PP-5067-10 is supplied to Detex specifications for its exit device assemblies, which is what keeps a serviced device matching the original build. If you are restoring a Detex device to original condition, or a facility standardizes on OEM parts for its egress hardware, use the Detex part.
4) Is the PP-5067-10 lockwasher rated for commercial door hardware, or is it a residential part?
Commercial. It's specified for commercial exit device assemblies in buildings like offices, schools, hospitals, retail, warehouses, government facilities, and multi-tenant residential, which is where exit devices see the cycle counts that loosen fasteners in the first place.
5) Is there more than one size or finish of the PP-5067-10 to choose from?
No options to specify. The PP-5067-10 is a single item, the #10 size lockwasher, so there is no finish or length choice to make when you order it.
