1) Can I use the Don-Jo HRP-1 pivot on a center-hung door?
No. The HRP-1 is built for offset hung doors and uses a 3/4 inch offset mounting. On a center hung opening the door pivots on the door's centerline, which is a different geometry entirely, so this pivot will not line up. You need a center hung pivot for that door.
2) Is the Don-Jo HRP-1 pivot approved for a fire rated door opening?
The HRP-1 carries a 3 hour fire rating, which covers the 3 hour openings you find in stairwells, corridors and separation walls in commercial and institutional buildings. That matters when the rest of the hardware on the opening has to hold the same rating.
3) Does the HRP-1 replace my top and bottom pivots, or do I still need a full offset pivot set?
You still need the pivot set. The HRP-1 is an intermediate reinforcing pivot, meant to be added between the top and bottom pivots to spread the load on a heavy leaf. For the actual hanging hardware on a 3/4 inch offset flush door, a full set such as the International Door Closers OP-2700 (non-handed) or the handed OP-3001 or OP-4001 does that job, and all three use the same 3/4 inch offset.
4) Is the Don-Jo HRP-1 reinforcing pivot handed?
Nothing about the HRP-1 is specified by hand. It ships as a single 3/4 inch offset intermediate pivot in 626 Satin Chrome, with no left or right variant to pick. That is not true of every offset pivot set: the International Door Closers OP-3001 and OP-4001 sets are handed, so if you are ordering hanging pivots alongside it you have to establish the door hand for those.
5) What finish does the Don-Jo HRP-1 pivot come in, and will it match my other door hardware?
626 Satin Chrome is the only finish the HRP-1 is offered in. That is the standard commercial finish code, so it matches 626 exit devices, closers and locksets already hanging in most office, school and healthcare buildings. If your building is standardized on a brass or bronze finish, this pivot will not match it.
6) Do I get one pivot or a pair when I order the Don-Jo HRP-1?
One. The HRP-1 is sold individually. Count how many intermediate points your heavy leaf needs and order that quantity per door. Some of the alternatives are packaged differently, for example the Deltana PH35 and PH40 pivot hinges ship as a pair.
7) Is the Don-Jo HRP-1 pivot electrified or does it carry power through the door?
