1) What size and weight of door will the DORMA ED900 low energy operator handle?
The ED900 drives doors up to 48 inches wide and 220 lb. That covers most single commercial entrances and interior openings. Above either number you are outside the operator's rating and need a different unit.
2) Is the ED900 top jamb mount right for my opening, or do I need a different mount?
Top jamb mount puts the operator on the push side of the door, on the frame face above the opening. Two arm packages cover different reveals: J8 for a 0 to 8 inch reveal, J12 for an 8 to 12 inch deep reveal. Measure from the face of the door to the face of the frame stop before you order. If the door swings toward you at the operator side (pull side), a top jamb push side unit is the wrong configuration.
3) Do I need to order a separate power supply for card readers or an electric strike with the ED900?
No secondary power supply is needed for typical access control loads. The ED900 has an onboard supply putting out 1.5 amps at 24 VDC for readers, strikes, and actuators. The operator itself runs on 120V.
4) Does the ED900 need to be ordered handed for a left or right hand door?
