Dormakaba TBR A 630 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What bar lengths does the Dormakaba TBR A touch bar and rail assembly come in?
Two lengths, 36 inch and 48 inch, both in 630 satin stainless. Pick by the door leaf width the device is mounted on: a 36 inch bar suits a standard 3-0 leaf, the 48 inch covers a 4-0 leaf. Measure the existing touch bar before ordering rather than guessing from the device model.
2) Will this touch bar fit a narrow stile aluminum storefront exit device?
No. The TBR A is a wide stile touch bar and rail assembly, built for wide stile exit device configurations. On a narrow stile aluminum glass door you need the narrow stile rail for that device family, not this one.
3) Is the TBR A a complete assembly or do I need to buy the rail separately?
It ships as a complete touch bar and rail assembly, so the actuating bar and its rail come together. That is the point of the part number: you swap the worn pushbar and rail in one go instead of sourcing pieces. Latch cases, rods, strikes and outside trim are separate items.
4) Is the TBR A a genuine Dormakaba part or an aftermarket copy?
It is a genuine Dormakaba replacement part from the Dorma exit device parts and trims line, model TBR A, intended to restore original actuation on compatible Dormakaba exit devices.
5) I manage a building with several exit doors. Will the 630 finish match my other Dormakaba pushbars?
Both lengths are supplied in 630 satin stainless, so if your existing devices are 630 the replacement will match. If your doors are 626 satin chrome or a dark bronze, a 630 bar will read brighter and slightly different in tone against them.
6) Can I replace just the touch bar without pulling the whole exit device off the door?
That is what this part is for. The TBR A is supplied as a ready-to-install bar and rail assembly so a worn or vandalized pushbar can be changed out during service without replacing the device, which keeps the opening down for less time. The latch mechanism and mounting prep on the door stay as they are.
7) Is this pushbar rated for high traffic commercial openings like schools and hospitals?
It is a commercial-grade part, and the typical applications named for it include educational facilities, healthcare institutions, government buildings, retail, offices, warehouses and multi-tenant residential. It is not a residential item.
