Dormakaba TP75 RH – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is a terrazzo pan and why do I need one with a Dormakaba BTS75V floor closer?
A terrazzo pan is the forming pan that sets into the floor around the cement case of a floor closer so the terrazzo or finished floor pours cleanly around the closer without bonding to it. The Dormakaba TP75 is the pan made for the BTS75V Series floor closer, so the pan matches the closer body and the door pivot geometry rather than being field-fabricated on site.
2) Will the TP75-RH work on a left-hand door?
No. The TP75-RH is built for right-handed openings and Dormakaba supplies it that way so it drops in without field modification. For a left-hand door you need the left-handed version of the TP75 pan. Handing is fixed on this part, so confirm the swing at the opening before ordering.
3) What does the 3/4 inch offset on the Dormakaba TP75 pan refer to?
The 3/4 inch offset is the pan's hung position relative to the door, matching a BTS75V installation set up for a 3/4 inch offset pivot arrangement. If the closer under your door is set at a different offset, this pan is not the one for that opening, so check the offset on the existing closer or the door schedule before you order.
4) Can I use the TP75 pan with a Dormakaba BTS80 or another brand of floor closer?
No. The TP75 is engineered for the BTS75V Series only. Cement cases and pans vary between closer families and brands, so a pan from one series will not form correctly around another closer. Match the pan to the closer model stamped on the unit you are installing.
5) Does the TP75-RH include the floor closer or the cement case?
No. The TP75-RH is the terrazzo pan on its own, a door closer part rather than a complete closer assembly. The BTS75V closer body, cement case, spindle, and top pivot are ordered separately.
6) Is the Dormakaba TP75-RH rated for commercial traffic, or is it a residential part?
It is a commercial part. Dormakaba lists the TP75-RH as a commercial-grade replacement component for BTS75V floor closer installations, the kind found in office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, and multi-tenant residential properties with commercial closers.
