B-LINE AC-1236W – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Eaton B-Line AC-1236W, and is it a complete console enclosure?
The AC-1236W is the top assembly for an Eaton B-Line Type-12-AW-12 console enclosure, finished in white enamel. It is not a standalone cabinet. It is used with the AC-1236B console body, so order the base separately if you are building a complete console.
2) Is the B-Line AC-1236W console top rated NEMA 12?
Yes. The AC-1236W carries a NEMA 12 degree of protection, which is the enclosure rating for indoor use against dust, falling dirt and dripping non-corrosive liquids. It is not a washdown or outdoor rating, so keep it inside and away from hosedown areas. It is also CSA certified.
3) What part number do I order for the base that goes with the AC-1236W?
The mating console body is the AC-1236B. The AC-1236W top assembly is specified for use with it, so a full console is the two part numbers together.
4) What are the dimensions and weight of the AC-1236W console top assembly?
The AC-1236W measures 26.87 inches in height, width and length/depth, and weighs 11.988 lb. That footprint is what you need to check against the console base and the floor space or bench run where the unit lands.
5) Can I use a NEMA 12 B-Line console like the Type-12-AW-12 outdoors or in a wet plant area?
No. NEMA 12 is an indoor rating covering dust, falling dirt and dripping non-corrosive liquid. For outdoor exposure or direct water spray you need a NEMA 4 or 4X enclosure instead. Specify accordingly if the console sits on a loading dock, near a washdown line, or anywhere with rain or hose exposure.
