The ADE-25P is an internally threaded 1/4 inch anchor, so it accepts 1/4-20 machine screws, bolts or threaded rod. You drop it in the hole, expand it, and thread your fastener in; because the thread is internal, the bolt can be backed out and the hanger removed without destroying the anchor.

The anchor body measures 1 in diameter and 1.375 in height, so the hole has to be drilled to match that 1 in body diameter and at least 1-3/8 in deep, plus a little extra for dust. Anything shallower and the anchor sits proud of the surface and will not expand properly against the hole wall.

Concrete, block, brick and stone are all listed applications for the B-Line ADE-25P. The double expansion design is the reason it works across those base materials, because it expands along the full length of the shield rather than only at the tip, which spreads the load in softer or less consistent masonry like block and brick. It is not a hollow wall anchor for drywall or plaster.

Double expansion, like the ADE-25P, is the choice for block, brick and softer or questionable masonry because both halves of the shield expand and grip over the whole embedment length. Single expansion anchors concentrate the grip at the back of the hole and are usually reserved for sound, high strength poured concrete. If you are mixing base materials across one job, the double expansion version keeps you to one part number.

The body is Zamac alloy, a zinc based die cast alloy that does not rust like plain steel and is the usual material for machine screw and expansion shields in interior masonry work. For outdoor or wet, chemically aggressive locations, spec a stainless anchor instead.
