1) Can I set this anchor without pulling the fixture off first?
Yes. The AWA-37-500 is designed to be installed through the fixture, so you can drill through the mounting hole in the strut, bracket or equipment base and drive the anchor straight through it into the concrete. That saves lifting the fixture back off to set anchors and re-aligning holes. The 5 inch length gives you room for the fixture thickness plus embedment.
2) Will a wedge anchor work in block or brick, or is it concrete only?
A wedge anchor like the AWA-37-500 works by expanding a clip against the wall of the drilled hole, so it needs solid, uncracked base material. Poured concrete is where it belongs. Hollow block, brick veneer and grout-filled cells do not give a wedge anchor consistent grip; for those, use a sleeve anchor or a screen tube and threaded rod. Mounting into the face shell of hollow CMU is the most common misuse of this style of anchor.
3) Is a zinc plated wedge anchor OK for outdoor or damp locations?
The AWA-37-500 is zinc plated carbon steel, which is a coating for dry indoor service. It handles interior mechanical rooms, parking structures under cover and general building work fine, but for exterior exposure, wash-down areas, pool rooms or coastal sites zinc plating will corrode. Those jobs call for a stainless or hot-dip galvanized anchor instead.
4) Is the B-Line AWA-37-500 anchor UL Listed for electrical work?
