1) What size enclosure does the Eaton B-Line AWF7221AP flat panel fit?
The AWF7221AP aluminum back panel is built for 72 inch by 21 inch B-Line fiberglass enclosures. The panel itself measures 64 inches high and 21.5 inches wide, which is the usable mounting area inside that enclosure size. If your box is a different height or width, this panel will not land on the mounting studs.
2) Does adding this panel affect the NEMA 4X rating of my fiberglass enclosure?
No. It is an internal back panel, listed to NEMA 4X and UL Listed, and it mounts on studs inside the box without penetrating the walls. The enclosure's hosedown and corrosion rating depends on the door gasket and any hub or fitting you add, not on the panel.
3) Why is the panel only 64 inches tall when the enclosure is 72 inches?
That is normal for back panels. The panel is sized to the interior mounting area, not the outside of the box, so the 64 inch by 21.5 inch aluminum panel leaves room at the top and bottom for the enclosure's flange, hinges, and wireway space in a 72 by 21 inch enclosure.
4) Can one person handle this panel during installation?
At 13.98 lb it is a one-person lift on weight alone, but it is 64 inches long and 21.5 inches wide, so getting it square onto the mounting studs inside a tall enclosure is easier with a second set of hands. Most installers load the panel with devices on the bench and then set the assembled panel into the box.
5) What is the finish on the AWF7221AP, and can I mount components directly to it?
Smooth brushed aluminum, unpainted. You drill and tap it or use self-tapping screws for DIN rail, terminal blocks, contactors, or subplates. Because it is bare aluminum rather than a painted surface, a mounting screw into the panel gives you a conductive path, so plan your bonding and any required isolation accordingly.
