The eight diamond Grip Strut plank is listed as OSHA compliant and is intended for safe, sturdy footing where non-slip surface is required. The diamond openings shed liquid, ice and debris rather than holding it, which is why it gets used on mechanical platforms, stair treads and elevated catwalks instead of solid plate.

The finish is plain, meaning bare uncoated steel. For outdoor, wash-down or corrosive service you would want a galvanized or coated version of the plank instead, or plan to paint it after cutting. Plain stock is the usual pick for dry indoor mechanical rooms and interior platforms.

It is formed from 12 gauge steel with a 2 inch deep channel on each side. The whole 12 foot plank weighs 8.9 lb, light enough for one person to carry up a ladder, with the load capacity coming from the formed channel rather than sheet thickness alone.

This is the eight diamond plank, a one piece walking surface with an integral 2 inch downturned channel on each side. Channel style Grip Strut is narrower and spans between stringers as individual sections; the plank at 18.75 inches wide is meant to give you most or all of a walkway width in a single piece, which cuts down on fasteners and support framing.

The eight diamond plank is a non-slip footing surface and is commonly cut down for stair treads as well as run flat for catwalks and platforms. Note the 2 inch channel is fixed on both long edges, so a cut tread keeps the channel on the front and back edge, not the ends; end closure plates are a separate item.
