The one diamond plank measures 12 inches long, 2.5 inches wide, and 1.125 inches high. That narrow 2.5 inch width is what a single diamond row gives you, so it works as a short walkway tread, a step cover, or a crossover plate rather than a full platform. For wider coverage you group planks side by side or step up to a multi-diamond width.

A single diamond row gives 2.5 inches of width, which is far narrower than a code stair tread depth, so one plank on its own is not a tread. Use it as a step cover on an existing narrow rung, a ladder or crossover step, or gang multiple planks to build up the tread depth you need.

It is steel, formed from 14 gauge material. Steel at 14 gauge is the heavier-duty choice for industrial walking surfaces and equipment steps where aluminum planks would flex more under load. If your application is corrosive process area or you are counting weight on a lift, an aluminum grating is the direction to look instead.

No fasteners or supports are included. The plank is the walking surface only; you provide the bolts, clips, or welds and the supporting structure or stair stringer. Plan your support spacing around the 12 inch plank length so each piece lands on bearing at both ends.

The plank is supplied in black on steel, which is a coated finish rather than a galvanized one. That is fine for interior mechanical rooms, plant floors, and covered structures. Continuous outdoor or washdown exposure is where a galvanized or stainless grating serves you better, since any coating nicked during install becomes a rust start on carbon steel.
