If you need more than two tenants metered off one enclosure, this is the wrong size pack.

The socket positions are rated 200 A, and the pack is built on a 400 A bus, so two 200 A tenant meters can be fed from a single 400 A service. Size your service conductors and main disconnect to the 400 A total, not to the 200 A per position.

Line side lugs take #4 through 600 MCM, so overhead or underground service conductors up to 600 MCM land directly without adapters. Load side lugs to each tenant take #6 through 250 MCM. If a tenant feeder is larger than 250 MCM you will need a gutter tap or a different pack.

Yes. The 242 MCC is a Type 3R enclosure, rainproof for outdoor wall mounting, in galvanized steel finished in ANSI 61 gray paint. It is UL listed. Type 3R is not a washdown or dusttight rating, so keep it off locations that need 4 or 4X.

Plan on 30 in wide by 23 in high with 4.625 in of depth off the wall, surface mounted. It weighs 50 lb, so a two-man lift or a second set of hands on the fasteners is sensible on a block or stud wall. Leave working clearance in front per your local code before you pick the spot.

Either one. The 242 MCC is built for overhead/underground feed, so the same pack works whether the utility brings a service drop down to the top or a lateral up from below. Confirm which entry your utility requires and land the #4 to 600 MCM service conductors on the line lugs accordingly.

The 242 MCC has a manual circuit closing bypass at each position. The utility or electrician closes the bypass by hand so the tenant stays energized while the meter is pulled and replaced. If your utility specifies lever bypass or no bypass at all, this is not the pack they will accept, so check their service standard first.

Ring type. The cover on the 242 MCC uses a sealing ring to retain the meter, which is what most utilities specify for a self-contained socket. Utilities that require ringless covers will reject a ring type pack, so match the designation on your utility's approved list before ordering.
