A vertical inside bend carries a tray run up or down a change in elevation, with the bend turning toward the inside of the angle (the tray bottom on the concave side). Eaton B-Line part 4A-09-30VI12 is a Series 2-5 vertical inside bend that turns the run 30 degrees on a 12 inch radius. You use it where the run has to follow a sloping ceiling, drop under an obstruction, or climb a wall. For the opposite direction of elevation change you need the vertical outside bend instead.

Lay out roughly 13.692 inches of run length for the fitting itself, measured along its length/depth dimension, and allow for the 12 inch inside radius of the curve. Plan the clearance to the obstruction you are bending around off that radius, not off the raw fitting length, since the tray sweeps through the curve rather than turning square.

The radius sets the minimum bend the cable itself has to take through the fitting. A 12 inch radius gives large power and control cables a gentler sweep than a short-radius fitting, which matters when the cable manufacturer specifies a minimum bending radius. If your cable is small and flexible, a tighter radius fitting saves space; if you are pulling large conductors, the 12 inch radius is the safer layout.

Aluminum. That gives you a fitting that will not rust like plain carbon steel and stays light for overhead work, which is why aluminum tray is common in wet process areas, tunnels and exterior runs. Aluminum is not the pick where the environment is strongly alkaline or where you need the higher load capacity of a steel tray system.

The 4A-09-30VI12 is supplied as the bend fitting itself. Splice plates, bolts and any hold-down or support hardware are ordered separately, and you need a splice connection at each end of the fitting where it joins the straight sections.

2.832 lb. Light enough for one person to hold in place while the splice plates are set, which is a practical difference from a comparable steel fitting when you are working off a lift.

It carries the CE mark. That is the mark held on record for the 4A-09-30VI12 vertical inside bend; if your submittal calls for other marks, confirm them against the manufacturer's certification sheet for the Series 2-5 family.
