B-Line Eaton series imperial cable tray and ladder, 4" height, 27.37" length, 42" width, Series 2-5 vertical outside bend, 90°, 12" radius, Aluminum

A vertical outside bend carries the tray run over an obstruction or up a wall, turning the run 90 degrees in the vertical plane with the tray bottom on the outside of the curve. This Eaton B-Line 4A-42-90VO12 fitting is the Series 2-5 vertical outside bend, 90 degrees, on a 12 inch radius. If your run needs to drop down and under rather than up and over, you need the vertical inside bend instead, not this part.

Allow for a 27.37 inch overall length on the fitting, which is the dimension it occupies along the run before your next straight section starts. The bend is formed on a 12 inch radius. Lay that out on the drawing before you cut your straights, since the radius also governs the minimum bend the cable itself will see through the turn.

The 4A-42-90VO12 vertical outside bend is UL Classified. That is the rating an inspector looks for when the tray is being used as an equipment grounding conductor path or where the specification calls for classified tray and fittings throughout the run.

It comes in at 8.1 lb, light enough for one person to set on a ladder or from a lift at that 42 inch width. That is the payoff of the aluminum construction over a steel equivalent of the same size.

Aluminum is the usual pick for exterior, wash-down, and mildly corrosive environments because it does not need galvanizing to resist corrosion, and this bend is aluminum throughout. For heavily corrosive chemical process areas, specifiers typically move to fiberglass or stainless tray instead.
