It transitions a 30 inch wide cable tray down to an 18 inch wide tray. Both widths are built into the one fitting, so you order it as a single piece rather than a reducer plus adapter plates. Tray depth stays at 6 inches through the transition.

A left reducer keeps one side rail in line and brings the opposite rail inward, so the offset lands on the left as you look along the run. The 6A-30-LR18 is the left-hand version only. If your 30 inch run needs to step down to 18 inches on the other side, or centered, you need the right reducer or a straight reducer instead. Confirm the direction against your tray layout before ordering, since the fitting cannot be flipped without turning the tray rungs upside down.

Aluminum. That keeps the fitting light for overhead work (it weighs 5.2 lb) and suits runs where corrosion from humidity or washdown is a concern. If your specification calls for hot dip galvanized or stainless steel tray, this is not a match, since mixing aluminum with a steel run also raises a dissimilar metal issue at the splice.
