The B-Line 6A-30-VTU24 is a vertical tee up, so it takes a horizontal cable tray run and branches a third leg upward off the top of it, keeping all three legs connected as one continuous tray path. It is not a change-of-direction elbow and not a horizontal tee, which splits in the same plane. Use it where a feeder run has to drop a branch to a higher level or rise to equipment above the main run.

Direction of the branch. A vertical tee up, which is what the 6A-30-VTU24 is, sends the third leg upward from the horizontal run. A vertical tee down sends it below. They are not interchangeable and cannot be flipped, because the side rail geometry and the radius sweep are cut for one orientation. Work out from the drawing which way the branch leaves the main run before you order.

Aluminum. That makes it a reasonable choice for exterior runs, damp areas, and jobs where weight on the support structure is a concern, and it means you are not dealing with the galvanizing repair a cut steel tray needs. Weight is 37.8 lb for the fitting. Note it also means the tray system is not a substitute for a steel system where the spec calls out steel by name.

Plan on it. The 6A-30-VTU24 is the tee fitting itself; the splice plates, bolts and any support hardware that tie it into the adjoining straight sections are ordered as separate items for the Series 2 through 5 system. Match the splice type to the same series and to aluminum so you are not mixing dissimilar metals at the joint.

37.8 lb bare. Add the cable fill and it is worth landing a hanger close to the fitting rather than spanning it, since a tee concentrates load from three legs at one point. At that weight it is a two-man lift into overhead supports without mechanical help.
