Allow 33 inches along the main run for the fitting body, with the branch coming off at 36 inch tray width and 6 inch rails. Lay it out before you cut your straight sections so the splice plates land on the tee's ends rather than mid-span.

It is aluminum. Aluminum tray fittings are the usual pick for damp, coastal, wash-down, and chemical areas because they do not rely on a zinc coating that gets breached when you field-cut or drill. They are also light to lift overhead: the tee weighs 26.678 lb. If you need the fitting bonded as an equipment grounding conductor path, use a bonding jumper across the joints per your design.

A horizontal tee is the right part when the main run continues straight through and a branch leaves to one side, all in the same horizontal plane. Two elbows only work if you are actually ending the main run and turning it, and they give you extra joints and extra support points. If the branch drops or rises to a different elevation, neither applies: that is a vertical elbow or a reducer, not this 12 inch radius horizontal tee.

Order it as B-Line 6A-36-HT12. The 6 is the rail height, the A is aluminum, the 36 is the tray width, and HT12 is the horizontal tee at a 12 inch radius. It is CE marked.

The 6A-36-HT12 is the tee fitting itself. Splice plates, connection hardware, and the hangers or trapeze supports that carry the fitting are ordered separately, and a tee needs support on each of its three legs near the joints. Plan on matching aluminum splice plates for the 6 inch rail height so the rail profiles line up.

Not advisable. Bolting aluminum directly to galvanized steel tray sets up dissimilar-metal contact at the splice, and the rail profiles between an aluminum Series 2-5 tray and a steel line generally do not interchange. Match the tee to the material and series of the run you already have.
