A vertical outside bend carries the tray run up and over an obstruction, with the fitting bending away from the cable side, so the cables ride on the outside of the curve. Eaton B-Line model 6A-18-45VO48 turns the run through 45 degrees on a 48 inch radius. Use a vertical inside bend instead when the run has to drop down and the cables would ride on the inside of the curve. Getting the two backwards is the most common ordering mistake on a vertical offset, because the parts look similar on paper.

The 6A-18-45VO48 vertical outside bend is UL Classified. That is the rating carried on the fitting itself, and it is the answer an electrical inspector or a spec reviewer is looking for on a tray submittal.

The 6A-18-45VO48 is supplied as the vertical outside bend fitting itself. Splice plates, bolts, and the hanger or trapeze supports for either side of the bend are ordered separately and matched to the series 2-5 aluminum tray. Budget two splice connections per fitting, one at each end.

It weighs 12 lb, which is a one-man lift on a ladder or lift basket. Aluminum construction is why: the same fitting in steel would be considerably heavier. Support it per your hanger spacing on both sides of the bend rather than letting the fitting span unsupported.

Aluminum tray holds up well outdoors and in damp or mildly corrosive plants without a coating, which is why it is common in water treatment, food plants, and rooftop runs. Where the environment is aggressively corrosive or the spec calls for a coating, a fiberglass or coated steel tray system is the alternative. Keep the whole run in one material so splice hardware and grounding stay consistent.
