A vertical outside bend carries the tray run over an obstruction or down a drop where the tray bends away from the cables' side, and this B-Line 6A-42-60VO36 fitting turns the run 60 degrees on a 36 inch radius. It is the fitting you use where the tray has to change elevation, as opposed to a horizontal bend which changes direction in plan. Pick outside versus inside based on which way the tray profile opens relative to the turn.

Allow for a 47.69 inch overall length on the fitting itself, which is what the 36 inch radius plus the 60 degree sweep works out to. Lay that out on the drawing before you cut the straight sections, because a tighter ceiling pocket or a nearby wall will not take it and you would need a smaller radius fitting instead.

The 6A-42-60VO36 vertical outside bend is UL Classified. That is the designation inspectors look for on cable tray used as an equipment grounding conductor and on tray installed under NEC Article 392.

Aluminum. That keeps the fitting light for overhead work and suits damp or corrosive areas better than plain painted steel, but aluminum tray is handled differently from steel when you use the tray as an equipment grounding conductor, so size your bonding jumpers per the aluminum cross section your engineer specified. It also means no galvanized coating to touch up after field cutting.

The 6A-42-60VO36 is supplied as the bend fitting itself. Splice plates, hold down clamps, and the hangers or trapeze supports at each end are separate line items, so add them to the order for both connection points or the fitting will arrive with nothing to tie it into the run.

17.2 lb. One person can set it on the trapeze hangers, though a 42 inch wide fitting is awkward enough on a lift that a second set of hands is worth having. Factor the weight into your support spacing along with the cable fill.
