B-LINE SB5473096TG – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the B-Line SB5473096TG rack rated for seismic zone 4 installations?
Yes. The SB5473096TG is built as a seismic zone 4, network bay closed duct rack, so it is intended for data and telecom rooms in the highest seismic design category. It is also UL Listed. Anchoring to the floor slab (and to the overhead where your engineer's detail calls for it) is what makes that rating hold in the field.
2) How deep can equipment be on the SB5473096TG rack?
Rail mounting depth adjusts out to a maximum of 35 inches, so deep switches, chassis routers, and long UPS units will mount. If your gear needs more than 35 inches between front and rear rails, this frame is not the one.
3) What floor footprint do I need for the SB5473096TG network bay rack?
Plan on 23 inches of width and a listed length/depth of 96 inches for the SB5473096TG. Width of 23 inches is what lets a row of these bay together on tight telco floor spacing; the depth figure is the number to check against your aisle layout before you set anchors.
4) Will the SB5473096TG match the gray racks already in our telecom room?
Finish is telco gray powder coat over steel, the standard color for central office and MDF equipment bays, so it lines up visually with existing telco gray frames. It is a top channel style frame, which also matters for matching how your overhead duct and runway land on the row.
5) What is a closed duct network bay rack used for instead of a standard open frame rack?
A closed duct bay like the SB5473096TG is the telco-style frame: the channel construction carries vertical cable duct and the top channel ties into overhead runway across a lineup of bays. You use it where you are building a row in an MDF or central office and want cable managed inside the frame structure. A plain two-post open rack is lighter and cheaper but gives you no integrated duct path and no seismic zone 4 build.
