1) Is the AW1010GP panel suitable for a NEMA 12 industrial enclosure?
Yes. The panel is rated to the NEMA 12 family, which is the dust-tight, drip-tight indoor industrial rating used on most plant floor control cabinets. It is also UL Listed.
2) What is the Eaton B-Line AW1010GP made of, and will it corrode in a damp plant?
Construction is galvanized steel with a white powder coat finish. The zinc coating plus the paint gives it reasonable resistance to condensation and washdown splash in an indoor NEMA 12 cabinet, but it is not a stainless or non-metallic panel and is not intended for corrosive chemical exposure.
3) Does the AW1010GP come with mounting hardware or the enclosure?
It is the panel only. JIC enclosures ship with the collar studs the panel mounts to, so the plate is ordered separately as a replacement or a spare when the original is drilled out and you want a clean layout.
4) Can I drill and tap this panel for my own contactors and terminal blocks?
That is what it is for. The galvanized steel plate is meant to be drilled, tapped, or fitted with DIN rail to carry whatever your control layout calls for. Touch up bare cut edges if the cabinet sees moisture.
5) Why is the AW1010GP panel painted white instead of bare steel?
The white powder coat on this galvanized JIC panel makes wiring and component labels far easier to read inside a dim cabinet, and it gives screws and DIN rail a paint surface to bite against. Electricians laying out a control panel generally prefer it over an unpainted galvanized plate.
6) How heavy is the AW1010GP back panel for a one-person install?
At 1.562 lb it is a one-hand part. You can hold it against the enclosure studs and start the nuts yourself without a second set of hands or a lift.
