1) Is the B-Line B22A strut a single channel or two channels welded together?
B22A is a back-to-back welded channel, meaning two strut sections are joined back to back into one member. That is why the profile measures 1.62 in in both height and width instead of the 1.62 x 0.81 of a single-depth channel. Use it where a single channel would deflect too much, such as longer unsupported spans, trapeze hangers carrying multiple pipes or conduit runs, and freestanding support frames.
2) Will standard strut nuts and fittings fit B-Line B22A channel?
B22A uses the B22 channel profile, so hardware sized for 1-5/8 in strut opening, spring nuts, channel nuts, clamps and standard fittings, engages the slot normally. For a 316 stainless installation, order the nuts, bolts and fittings in 316 stainless as well; mixing plated carbon steel hardware into stainless strut in a corrosive area will rust out at the fastener first.
3) Is B22A the same as B22 strut?
No. B22 is the single 12 gauge channel; B22A is two of those welded back to back, giving a closed 1.62 x 1.62 in section with slots facing both directions. Practical difference on the job: B22A lets you mount hardware off either face and carries more load, but it will not sit flat against a wall the way a single channel does. If you are surfacing mounting to a wall or deck, order the single channel instead.
